Description:

This internship is part of the Spring 2026 Professional Internship Program. To be eligible for the program you must:

  • Be enrolled as an SUU student during the course of the internship.
  • Have and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Be willing to work 10 to 20 hours per week.

The coordinator of the Sustainability Studies Minor (Dr. Matthew Newsom) is seeking applications for an Assistant Program Developer to help amplify the program’s role on campus. The position responsibilities span a wide range and will provide the intern with experience in program administration and development. Students of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, though preference will be given to those currently majoring or minoring in sustainability studies, environmental science/studies, and anthropology.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the modification of sustainability studies minor curriculum, including surveying course offerings and communicating with relevant university faculty and staff;
  • Devise and circulate promotional materials for sustainability programs and activities on campus to generate new program interest and expand existing capacities;
  • Assist relevant faculty with the modification of an introductory course on sustainability, including lecture and activity design, resource procurement, and coordination with campus offices; and
  • Facilitate collaboration between sustainability faculty, the SUU sustainability committee, the SUU sustainability student club, and other campus departments and organizations.

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to and understanding of concepts and perspectives related to sustainability and how these apply to policy and practice;
  • Effective communication skills (written and spoken); and
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate with various campus stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and administration.
